If you really want to change, quit "TRYING"!!

You've heard it before. "I'm TRYING to quit smoking", "I'm TRYING to get into shape", I'm TRYING to change", etc etc....

All this 'trying' does not get anyone anywhere. There is no such thing as 'trying' to change. You either exercise each day or you don't, you either eat a healthy diet or you don't, you either catch the wave or you don't, you either jump out of the airplane or you don't...get the idea?

In my opinion, when someone says they are 'trying' to do something it's merely an excuse and I do not tolerate this 'BS' from my clients. If you're 'trying' to change something about yourself, you're not changing because you are 'trying'. I read somewhere that "The paradox of change is that the harder you try, the less you change; the less you change, the harder you try."

So, change either occurs or it doesn't...there is no gray area. You can change a lot or a little, but it's still considered change. The most important thing is that you're headed in the direction you want to go.

Where to begin? I start with one of my favorite sayings..."If you want something you've never had before, you need to do something you've never done before." This means stepping out of the 'ol comfort zone of yours and getting comfortable being UNCOMFORTABLE for a while. Really take time and think about why you want to change, the consequences of NOT changing, and what life will be like once you do change. Then, DO IT!! Choose to change, make the committment, and take action. It won't be easy and won't happen overnight, but it will happen!!

P.S. By the way, I can only teach what I've first learned myself

"What Nintendo did is they tapped into that desire people have to be healthier..Everyone wants to work out, but nobody really wants to put the effort"

Many of my clients have asked me what I think of the new Wii Fit. I have mixed feeling as I've not even tried it just yet. However, reading the link below confirms my initial thoughts....

I applaud any effort people make to get into shape, but it takes a PERMANENT LIFESTYLE change in order to get the results you want. Purchasing Wii Fit, buying a treadmill, getting a gym membership, or going on the South Beach diet are all fine if you intend to use it to facilitate permanent change in the right direction. The problem most people have are 'good intentions', however, it takes action, persistance, and never giving up to attain any goal. No gimmick is going to change your life, YOU have to change.
